Pet, meet baby!

Chandra fischer,

Worried about how your “fur babies” will adjust to the addition of their new human? Our pets are our family members and it’s important to recognize that the arrival of baby can be both stressful and exciting for them. Come learn how to safely and positively introduce your pets to your new baby in a way that supports your dog’s or cat’s natural instincts, minimizes stress for everyone, and sets the course for enhancing that special bond between pets and their people.

Fearless Birth

Margo Blackstone,
Duluth Midwife - traditional midwife

OK, so I may have tricked you with the title.  I think fear can actually be a healthy part of birth, but in this workshop we will talk about how to shed all the not so helpful fear.  We will talk about the needs of the birthing person, how best to meet those needs, and how to prepare your whole birth team for YOUR vision of the birth you want (hint: not theirs, YOURS).  This workshop won’t be able to do all the hard work for you, but it will set you up on the path to walk into your birth deeply knowledgeable about the process (because much of our fear is of the unknown) and tapped into your own voice to guide you through

your birth.

CIRCLES OF SECURITY

TERI KESTI

At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. This introduction will help you understand how this reflective parenting perspective can positively impact you, your child and your family's day to day life while building a solid foundation for a successful future!

Healing with Birth Photography

Michaela Lemke,

Birth is a transformative journey that can fill you up, tear you apart and heal you in ways you didn’t know you needed. We'll view select birth story images (always used with permission), discuss the power of those images and how they can be instrumental in shaping a woman’s perceptions of herself as a mother.

Doulas are for Partners, too?

Monita Niemann,
Surrendering Waves

You are tired, you need to use the restroom, and you can’t help to wonder if you can eat or not. Your mind is in a tizzy of thoughts- Is this normal? What else should I be doing? What is that smell? Is this labor? I wonder who is taking care of the pets. To many these may sounds like thoughts and questions of a person in labor, actually these are all questions many partners have during labor. Having a doula as part of your birth team can help ease many of these and plenty more. Join Monita, as we discuss how a doula can support not only the birthing person, but also partners as well.
