Pregnancy Should NOT Hurt

Deb McLaughlin,
Northern Lights Wellness

Come learn simple things you can do (and avoid doing) during pregnancy that will help keep Moms more comfortable AND enjoy easier births and happier babies. Minor structural imbalances in Mom can impact baby’s position for birth and affect the ease of the birth. You will leave with clear recommendations and “tools” for you and your partner to check and address at home. You will also understand when and how to consider seeing a bodyworker for more help. MAP for Better Birth™ is an assessment protocol developed for midwives, doctors, and nurses to use during pregnancy. Giant List of Birth Decisions

Margo Nelson,
Duluth Midwife

Margo made the "Giant List of Birth Decisions" as a tool to both show the enormity of options for labor and birth (WAY beyond the typical birth plan) and to stimulate conversation about specific options that people perhaps had never even heard of or contemplated. Every time she has used this tool with a group of pregnant families, the conversation has been illuminating, and people leave with actionable steps if they want to be in charge of their birth experience - go through this giant list, get more educated about the options as desired, and make decisions that they can then bring to their provider of choice. Margo’s passion is to help every family look forward to their birth experience, and to look back on their birth knowing they went in as prepared as possible, heart, soul and body. This workshop is one way of making that happen!

Doulas are for Partners Too

Monita Niemann,
Surrendering Waves

You are tired, you need to use the restroom, and you can’t help to wonder if you can eat or not. Your mind is in a tizzy of thoughts- Is this normal? What else should I be doing? What is that smell? Is this labor? I wonder who is taking care of the pets. To many these may sounds like thoughts and questions of a person in labor, actually these are all questions many partners have during labor. Having a doula as part of your birth team can help ease many of these and plenty more. Join Monita, as we discuss how a doula can support not only the birthing person, but also partners as well.
